5G-Based Industrial Wireless Controller: Protocol Adaptation, Prototype Development, and Experimental Evaluation

As a promising industrial wireless network technology, 5G URLLC is playing key role in control systems which employ different kinds of protocols. This leaves significant challenge how to adapt with existing protocols and develop novel controllers. Motivated by this, this paper investigates the protocol adaptation experimental evaluations for development 5G-based controller prototype. Specifically, using globally used Modbus as an example, we first deeply analyze characteristics data packet format communication time sequence RTU, TCP, Then, propose resolution conversion scheme between RTU/Modbus TCP 5G. Furthermore, programmable logic (PLC) prototype system based on To evaluate developed prototype, perform extensive experiments test reliability latency. The results demonstrate that latency smaller than transparent transmission without conversion, while loss not large. Moreover, speed are better those RTU
